At Aspire we strive to ensure pupils are active throughout the day by providing many opportunities for physical fitness and sport. Playground equipment includes an outside gym, climbing frames, swings, trampolines, trim trail , outside bikes and scooters and an activall multi-sensory reaction board. Midday supervisors set up a range of different activities each lunchtime and staff actively encourage pupils to appropriately use the equipment and play a variety of playground games.

Physical activity is encouraged at playtimes, lunchtimes and golden time with hall activities running each golden time.

All pupils receive a weekly PE lesson taught by a specialist PE teacher from ‘All for sport’ PE company. Topics rotate throughout the year and include gym, dance, outdoor and adventure learning , athletics and games. All pupils are provided with a Aspire PE t-shirt which is worn with black trousers, shorts or leggings and trainers to ensure all pupils are appropriately dressed whilst still remaining part of the Aspire community.

Pupils are able to attend at least two weekly after school clubs run by Aspire staff. These are focused on football skills and other multi-skills. Football training takes place on the astro pitch at Danson Youth centre. Other opportunities for working with Danson Youth centre are actively explored and take place where possible such as trampolining sessions.

Aspire pupils in year 5 have the opportunity to take part in BMX sessions funded and run by Access sports.

Aspire pupils actively participate in the Bexley School events programme attending many different sporting competitions and events throughout the year with other schools in Bexley including being in the Bexley schools football league.

Our Aspire football team participates in the South London Special league which is held half termly.

All key stage 2 pupils receive at least one terms swimming each academic year at Crook Log sports centre with extra sessions available in the summer term for year 6 pupils who have not reached the required standard.

A sports week is held every year in the Summer term. This is carefully planned to give pupils the opportunity to try a variety of different sports and physical activities. Pupils take part in various workshops which have included: mini golf, baseball, skipping and many others. The week culminates in a whole school sports day which includes both team and individual activities and parents are invited to spectate. Staff also join in with the week and there are staff and pupil inter competitions such as football matches.

PE and sports equipment is kept up to date and relevant to each activity with careful consideration put into the needs of the pupils using it.
